The state weather bureau Pagasa said a severe tropical storm that they expect to develop into a typhoon will enter the country within the day.

If it develops into a typhoon and enters the country, it will be dubbed “Ferdie” locally while its international name will be “Meranti.”

Pagasa Visayas weather specialist Meo Aguirre said the typhoon won’t make landfall but it will enhance the “habagat” in the Visayas area.

In its 11am weather advisory, Pagasa estimated the location of the storm at 560km west northwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
