Lapu employee nabbed for drugs

A Lapu-Lapu City employee was arrested last Saturday in Cordova town.

Rodrigo “Drego” Babatuan Jr., 46, an administrative aide of the Lapu-Lapu City government, who was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Ibabao, Cordova town, said that the allegations against him were untrue and that he was even shocked when police arrested him during an alleged buy-bust operation.

Babatuan said that if he was selling illegal drugs, he would have been in the barangay’s list for Oplan Tokhang.

But Director Yogi Filemon Ruiz of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) said that Babatuan had been placed under surveillance for two weeks before they conducted the operation.

PDEA-7 agents arrested Babatuan after he allegedly sold a pack of suspected shabu worth P1,000 to an undercover agent in his home in Barangay Ibabao, Cordova town.

Three sachets weighing 15 grams with an estimated street value of P48,000, a cell phone and a .45 caliber pistol were allegedly confiscated from Babatuan during the buy-bust operation.
