Spectators of a singing contest scampered to safety after an unidentified man allegedly fired at the cop who was judging the contest.

Three women were brought to the hospital after they were hit by shrapnel coming from an improvised shotgun used by the assailant.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. last Wednesday in Barangay Tominhao, Daanbantayan town in northern Cebu.

According to PO3 Ressan Moralde, desk officer of Daanbantayan Police Station, the actual target of the gunman based on their investigation was SPO2 Mamerto Gastador, but the latter was able to drop to the ground.

Moralde said they were looking into the possibility of a drug-related incident considering that Gastador already received a death threat from a drug personality that they arrested in the area.
