Lot row leads to blocking of subdivision road

FOR failing to negotiate with them on concrete agreements pertaining to lot ownership and tax payments, an alleged owner of a private lot inside Sunrise Village on Poblacion, Barangay Basak-Pardo blocked the entrance of the subdivision to call the attention of its homeowners association.

Nicolson Madali, 64, who introduced himself to CDN as the husband of the owner of the lot, blocked the entrance of the Sunrise Village yesterday afternoon by placing huge barrels to call the attention of the homeowners association as well as “establish their ownership” over the lot.

“Temporary lang ito, this is not illegal fencing kasi madali lang matanggal itong mga drum. We just want to call the attention of the homeowners association who failed to negotiate with us for the longest time,” Madali said.

The barriers caused inconvenience to residents of the subdivision who owned cars as the entrance was only passable for pedestrians and motorcycles.

Madali said the lot is owned by the Masecampo family.

Cebu City Councilor Joy Pesquera, head of the city council’s committee on budget and finance, sent one of her staff yesterday to investigate on the matter.

In a phone interview, Pesquera said that the lot claimed by Madali to be under their ownership has long been donated to the government.

She said that what Madali and his family did was wrong as it caused inconvenience to the residents.

“He could go on reasoning out that the lot belongs to them but blocking the road was wrong. Fact remains that it’s a road,” Pesquera said.
