Beef up security, businesses urged

A business group in Cebu urged their members to immediately report to authorities questionable personalities amid the reported presence of the bandit group Abu Sayyaf in Cebu. (Related story : Police monitor Abu Sayyaf presence in Cebu) )

“In the light of the latest warning from the PNP (Philippine National Police), we enjoin the business community to be extra cautious and to exercise increased
security measures in the various public and private business establishments,” said Melanie Ng, president of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).

She said it is always prudent for businesses to exercise caution and beef up security in the conduct of daily activities and operations.

The CCCI has about 700 member-businesses that range from micro enterprises to large corporations based in Cebu.
