THE Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles will compete against the best Jesuit schools in the country in the Jesuit Athletic Meet (JAM) 2016 which starts today at the Ateneo de Davao University in Davao City.

Ateneo de Cebu’s finest teams, headed by its high school basketball squad, their boys’ football team, and the girls’ volleyball and futsal squads, will see action in the five-day competition. They will also be competing in athletics, table tennis and swimming.

The JAM is held every two years with different Jesuit schools serving as host. Ateneo de Naga hosted the 2014 edition, while Ateneo de Zamboanga and Ateneo de Manila hosted the 2012 and 2010 legs, respectively.

Also competing are Ateneo de Davao, Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, Ateneo de Zamboanga, Ateneo de Manila, Ateneo de Naga, Xavier School (San Juan), Culion College of Palawan and Ateneo de Iloilo.

Noli Ayo, Ateneo de Davao’s Athletic Director, said that the event brings more to the table than just an athletic competition.

“The JAM is both a friendly competition and fellowship event among Jesuit schools nationwide. Among our activities are a forum for student-athletes, a conference for coaches and many inter-action activities for student-athletes and coaches. It’s really more than just sports,” he said.=
