Reigning title-holders Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras and the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars moved closer to the finals as they thrashed separate foes in the single round-robin semifinals of the Cesafi men’s volleyball tournament Sunday morning at the University of San Carlos (USC) Main gym.

The Cobras, who are aiming for a rare grand slam, defeated the University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers, 22-25, 25-9, 25-11, 25-18, while last year’s third placers, USJ-R, routed the USC Warriors, 25-23, 25-23, 25-12.

USJ-R and SWU need just a win next Saturday to advance to the finals scheduled on Nov. 19.
