Four colorum vans were apprehended by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Central Visayas (LTFRB 7) at 6:30 this morning in Barangay Cotcot, Liloan.
According to LTFRB – 7 information officer Emil Membrillas, the vans have been turned over to Land Transportation Office – Central Visayas (LTO 7) and were issued impounding tickets.
One of the vans, a Mitsubishi 2007 owned by Carlito Albio, was being used as a school shuttle and was about to transport students enrolled in a private school in Canduman, Mandaue City when intercepted by LTFRB personnel while two of the vans were carrying passengers bound for a mall in Cebu City. The two passenger vans were owned by Romeo Benaguiohan and Gloria Nogra.
The fourth van, a Toyota Grandia 2016 operated by a Charissa Pepito, was on its way to transport passengers bound for Maya in Daanbantayan town.
“They were colorums because they did not present any proof of franchise. There were really passengers inside,” Membrillas said in Cebuano.
Membrillas said the operator of all four colorum vans will pay P200,000 as fine and their vehicles will be impounded for three months.
