TO promote collaborations with critical stakeholders at all levels, the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7) recently conducted a brief orientation highlighting the 2017 thrusts and priorities of the agency issued by Secretary Judy Taguiwalo.
The orientation was attended by members of the media, civil society organizations and some representatives of government offices.
DSWD-7 planning officer Anthony Arsenal discussed the salient features of the agency’s 2017 thrusts and priorities, which is in line with President Rodrigo Duterte’s ten-point socioeconomic agenda.
Of the 10, DSWD-7 contributes to the attainment of three items, namely, item 7 (investment in human development), item 9 (improvement of social protection programs) and item 10 (strengthen implementation of Responsible Parenthood).
“These national agenda shall be implemented by the department through its core values of respect for human dignity, service excellence and integrity,” Arsenal said.
Taguiwalo emphasized that the department shall build on the gains it has achieved by improving the level of well-being and reducing vulnerabilities of the poor, marginalized and disadvantaged sectors in the society.
She also stressed that the organizational and operational plan and budget of DSWD will focus on carrying out its mandate and vision by extending prompt, adequate and caring service to the Filipino people through interagency and multi-stakeholder collaboration.
