CEBU CITY–Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña was dismayed when he learned that Vice President Robredo resigned from the Cabinet.

“I’m very sad. I think she’s very competent and she had her heart focused on addressing the issues particularly of housing,” Osmeña said on Monday.

He said Robredo has been doing good as the head of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC).

The mayor recalled that the Vice President had assured that some housing projects would be implemented in Cebu during her time in the office.

“She had many plans. That’s what I’m very worried about (her resignation),” Osmeña said.

Robredo received a message from Cabinet Secretary Leoncio “Jun” Evasco Jr. o Sunday afternoon that President Duterte, through his executive assistant Bong Go, had ordered her to “desist from attending all Cabinet meetings starting Monday, December 5.”

On Sunday evening, Robredo announced her resignation from the president’s Cabinet saying that the order “makes it impossible for [her] to perform [her] duties.”
