AN EARLY morning fire destroyed a storage facility for cooking oil in Marca Leon at Pier 4.

Senior Fire Officer 3 (SFO3) Angelo Abellana of the Cebu City Fire Department estimated the damage to property at P10 million.

Abellana said that it took firefighters close to five hours before putting out the fire because the facility housed different types of cooking products and cooking oil which couldn’t be easily extinguished by water.

He said that the fire was reported at 3:37 a.m. and was put out at 8:30 a.m.

SFO2 Dionisio Regasa said that security guard, Milana Ponciano, suffered burns in parts of his body during the fire.

Regasa said that the security guard looked inside the warehouse when he heard a cracking sound. It was then that the fire started.
