Cebu Business Month will hold a make-a-thon

A Make-A-Thon.

This will be one of the planned activities of the Cebu Business Month this year in June, said Melanie Ng, Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry president, during a recent forum at the University of the Philippines Cebu Campus.

“It’s much like a hack-a-thon for programmers but this time, it is geared for entrepreneurship. Students and schools are encouraged to join and submit their entries,” Ng said of the planned event.

CBM 2017’s Make-a-Thon is a joint project by CCCI and Department of Trade Industry (DTI) wherein all 12 Fabrication-Laboratories (FABLAB) in the country will compete.

“The CCCI is also supporting the innovation industry of Cebu. Together with all those playing in the medium and small enterprises (MSMEs), and the innovation sector of Cebu such as digital marketers, web developers and homegrown IT-BPO centers, we will be forming the Innovation Council of Cebu with the support of DTI – 7,” she said.

She also said that the theme for this year’s CBM is titled “Step Up,” and will also mark the event’s 21st season.

‘To aim for more growth of Cebu as an investment destination is CCCI’s thrust for this year’s CBM… Our businesses should step up their game (amidst the issues) so that we can do better for Cebu,” said Ng.

She, however, could not give anymore details of the event.
