THE BULLDOGS handed the Mustangs its first loss of the tournament with a 60–58 squeaker in the Cebu Weekend Basketball Club last weekend at the City Sports Club Cebu basketball courts.

Brian Gabasa, Jan Cipres and Justin Huang did most of the damage as they each had stellar numbers to power the Bulldogs to their seventh win against a lone loss, the same win-loss record as their victims.

Cipres and Gabasa each had 12 points while Huang logged in a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds to offset the terrific numbers of the Mustangs’ Paul Joven who had 16 points and 12 boards.

The Bulldogs also routed the Pandas, 68–43, as Ralph Belarmino led the attack with 21 points, eight boards and four assists. Huang added 15 points and 13 rebounds to drop the Pandas to 4-4 in this competition.

Meanwhile, the Roosters improved to 6-2 with an 89–82 win over the Pythons. PAREF-Springdale Titans star Joshua Balankig had 28 points and five assists to lead the way while Jabby Bautista punched in 19.

The Hogs were also victorious over the Bears, 84–73, behind the superb numbers of Don Adlawan, who had 20 points and 11 rebounds; Anthony Romaguerra, who had 19 markers and eight boards; and Dave Guardiario, who flirted with a triple-double of 17 points, 10 assists and six steals. The Hogs improved to 4-4 while the Bears fell to 5-2.

The Toros got 23 points and 13 rebounds from former University of San Carlos skipper Nico Magat in the Toros’ 77–72 win over the Dragons while the Parrots eked past the Penguins in overtime, 82–81, behind the 26 points of Patrick Laput.

The Tigers also ran away with a 92–57 win over the Mantis as Jig Paul Morales nearly had a triple-double of 29 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists on top of five steals.
