THE 2008 Flyboys won their third straight title in the University of San Carlos North Alumni Basketball Conference as they captured the Division 3 title in the Summer League 2 Powered by Common Ground with a thrilling 76–71 victory over the 2002 Lions in the deciding Game Three of the best-of-three series last Sunday at the USC North Campus gym.

The Lions appeared to have the inside track on the win, but the Flyboys soared down the stretch to grab the win and the title, their third in a row since the NABC’s inception.

Nilton Otida led the Flyboys’ mad dash to the title as he tallied 22 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals, while John Cabellon added 18 markers and seven boards. Nico Magat and Miko Santos also played key roles in the win as they had 17 and 11, respectively.

Enrico Llanto, who was adjudged league MVP, was the lone beacon of light for the Lions as he had 38 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Joining him on the Mythical Five were 2008’s Otida and Cabellon, 2007 Waybus’ Robert Codilla, and 2010 Pioneers’ Mike Rita.
