THE MERALCO Bolts ended their two-year, six-game skid against San Miguel Beer with a huge come-from-behind 104-101 victory yesterday in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

Reigning Best Import awardee Allen Durham led the Meralco combeback win with 35 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists as the Bolts took the top seed in the playoffs by finishing with a 9-2 (win-loss) record.

Durham scored six crucial points in the final minute for Meralco that spelled San Miguel’s doom.

The Beermen, seeking a grand-slam this conference, led by as many as 18 points but couldn’t hold on to drop to sixth place and missing a twice-to-beat edge in the quarterfinal round.

In the first game, Star turned back NLEX, 101-93, behind the trio of Paul Lee, Kristofer Acox and Mark Barroca.

Lee poured in seven of his 15 points in the payoff period, Acox tallied a double-double with 14 markers and 10 rebounds, while Barroca had 13 points.
