CEBUANO netter Marc Nicole Suson will have a chance to extend his reign as champion as he advanced to the championship round of the 16-Under boys category of the 3rd Citigreen Junior Tennis Cup yesterday at the La Paloma Tennis Courts in Brgy. Labangon, Cebu City.
The reigning 16-U boys’ champion Suson from the University of Cebu (UC) escaped Vaughn Codilla, 8-5, in the semifinal round to move on and face the winner between Stephen Guia and Brent Cortes, whose match was being played as of press time.
In the 8-unisex division, top-seed Gavin Kraut and David Sepulveda set up a titular showdown after they ousted Rihanne Dedace, 4-0, 4-0, and Chad Carlisle Cuizon, 4-1, 4-1, respectively.
Meanwhile, Siquijor’s Ellaine Rose Bahonsua clinched the first finals berth in the premier 18-U girls’ division after scoring an 8-3 victory over Ghylliana Yu.
Bahonsua will face the winner of the Elizabeth Abarquez-Janelle Llavore semis match, which was still going on as of this writing.
All of the championship matches today will be held at the Citigreen Tennis Resort in Brgy. Punta, Princesa, Cebu City.
