THE top-seeded Roadstar and the second-ranked Family Appliance beat separate quarterfinal foes and advanced to the Final 4 of the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball League last weekend at the CEC gym.

Roadstar ousted Promate Generators/MG Machinery Supply, 82-78 while Family Appliance bested Dewfoam, 69-64. Also moving on the semis was Dimsum Frito which slipped past Juice Boost/Raphael Sports Café, 80-76.

Bernard Aves was Roadstar’s high-point man with 27 points. He also got plenty of help from Rogelio Donayre and Mark Bacho, who tallied 19 and 17 points, respectively.

The loss spoiled the 29-point effort of Promate Generators/MG Machinery Supply’s Paul Gabatan.

Family Appliance on the other hand, got 25 markers from their ace, Juan Carlo Espada. Raymark Ong and Paolo Cheng backed him up with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Joey Catipay and Troy Tan formed an awesome-twosome for Dimsum Frito as the former sizzled with 30 points while the latter added 21 markers.

Mark Bukiron sizzled inside for 18 points.

The other quarterfinal pairing saw Northern Star/JPC’s Motorparts force a decider after they stunned the sixth seeded BCP Lubricants, 64-59 with Jan Paolo Yu scoring 18 points.
