Cebuana Gilbuena eyes nat’l duathlon crown

FOR the past two editions of the National Duathlon Championships (NDC), Cebuana duathlete Miscelle Gilbuena has always been the bridesmaid to fellow national team member Mirasol Abad.

The 29-year-old Bantayan, Cebu, native looks to end that unfortunate trend as she already started her rigid training by joining some races in preparation for the 2017 NDC on November 12 in Subic.

Coming off an impressive victory in the 2017 Powerman Philippines – Asian Championships two weeks ago, Gilbuena added yet another feather to her cap by ruling the 2017 NutriLite Health Run last Sunday in Manila.

“Paghahandaan ko po talaga ang National Duathlon this November 12 sa Subic. Mudula sad ko this coming October 22 kay may nag-invite nako mudula sa Surigao,” Gilbuena said.

Aside from Gilbuena, also joining the race in the female division are Abad and Jelsie Sabado while Cebu Parklane Tri-Team’s Emmanuel Comendador, Jarwyn Banatao, Joey Delos Reyes and Carlo Pedregosa and 2017 SEA Games triathlon silver medalist John Chicano leads the cast in the men’s field.
