ILOCOS United FC vowed to be better when it meets the Global Cebu FC on Nov. 5 in the Philippines Football League (PFL) game in Vigan City.

Ilocos lost to Global Cebu FC last Sunday, 2-3, at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) to remain at the bottom of the standings with seven points off one win, 20 losses and four draws.

Despite the loss, head coach Ian Gillan is optimistic the team will bounce back at home.

“They will be back up. They are gonna be ready to play with Global up in Vigan. That’s going to be a tough game for Global, and I promise we will be tougher,” Gillan said. “All our boys are fired up and they will surely be prepared for another battle like we put up tonight.”

Gillan added he was actually impressed with how the team played against Global Cebu.

“I’m quite pleased the way the boys played. We’ve were beaten but we put up a fight.”

Meanwhile, Global Cebu head coach Akhbar Nawas is a bit worried with the team’s recovery in the coming games. Global Cebu is set to face the Stallions Laguna FC on Nov. 2 in Biñan, Laguna, first before taking on Ilocos United three days after.

“The matches are quite close and recovery for us is important. We have to recover well and prepare the players for each match,” said Nawas.

Global Cebu is at fourth place with 40 points and a record of 11 wins, six losses and seven draws.
