HE Michel Goffin will host a reception on Monday, Dec. 4 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the ballroom of the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel. It has a double purpose:
To introduce Enrison Benedicto as the new Honorary Consul of Belgium in Cebu, and the retirement of Enrique Benedicto as Belgium’s Honorary Consul in Cebu for many years of service.

Ongoing up to Dec. 4 at the exhibit hall of Fort San Pedro since last week is the seventh solo exhibition of photos by Italian Venezuelan photographer Jose Antonio Nigro who has lived in Cebu for over four years now, and will soon leave.
It is titled “We are Cebu” and depicts various members of the Cebu community. One of them is of Ka Bino Guerrero who was instrumental in holding the exhibit at the fort.You’ll see me there. There are about 30 photos that include Amparito Lhuillier, Teresin Mendezona, Tamsin Booth, Vivina Yrastorza, and a beautiful shot of Mary Rose Villacastin Manghuyop holding the Santo Niño.
Also ongoing, this time at the Qube Gallery in Crossroads, Banilad, is an exhibit of paintings by Henri Lamy titled “Power” up to Dec. 12.

On Dec. 2, Saturday, at 6 p.m., Montebello Villa Hotel will hold its Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at the main lobby.
A reminder for Dec. 2, also at 6 p.m., is Cebu Centre for Dance’s ballet recital titled “Once Upon a Tutu” featuring well loved fairy tales into original choreographyin the classic style. It’s at Onstage of Ayala Center.
On Dec. 6, Wednesday, at 12 noon Balletcenter is calling a presscon at Cafe Marco of the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel with regard to its Dec. 8 and 9
presentation of its annual show, this time titled Holiday Classics.
Shows on both nights start at 6:30 p.m. at the Onstage theater of Ayala Center. Balletcenter artistic director Gregory Aaron is returning to the stage in this program.
On Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. is the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at The Residences of the Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort, on site at its showroom.
And also on Dec. 6 from 6:30 p.m. onwards is the annual Cestas de Navidad Raffle at Casino Español de Cebu. Grand prize is P250,000 in cash. There will be travel tickets to international destinations, and baskets laden with Christmas goodies.
The anniversary gala of the Cebu chapter of La Chaine des Rotisseurs will be on the evening of Dec. 8 at the ballroom of the Radisson Blu Hotel. It promises to be an elegant gastronomic event of the first order, plus a cultural presentation to make it all quite unforgettable.On Dec. 12 at 12 noon Amigos de España will hold its Christmas party at Salon Barcelona of the Casino Español de Cebu. There will be the usual exchanging of gifts, as president Myra Gonzalez states, something for the house.
On Dec. 16 at 8 p.m. is the Classic Youth Orchestra Christmas Concert 2017 at the SM Centerstage Seaside. Conductor will be Professor Horst-Hans Backer.Ingrid Sala Santamaria will be the piano soloist in the first movement of the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2 in C. She’ll also give the closing remarks.
Invitations are out for the annual costume ball at the Casino Español de Cebu on Dec. 31 to ring out the old year and welcome 2018.
