RICHARD Natividad ruled the 2nd Harvey Duke Harris III and Voltaire Sevillano Handicapping Chess Tournament last Saturday at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu.
Natividad scored a total of 6.5 points in the seven-round competition to bag the title and the P5,000 cash prize.
Mario Mangubat and Edsel Montoya were tied with 6.0 points but the former took second place due to a higher tie-break score.
Fourth to 10th placers were Carlos Moreno III (6.0), Cheran Bartolata (5.5), Daculan (5.5), Ganzon (5.0), Anthony Makinano (5.0), Diego Abraham Caparino (5.0) and Jethro Esplanada (5.0), respectively.
Laila Camel Nadera scored 5.0 points to place 12th and was named the top female performer of the tournament while Jerish John Velarde and Aaron Resma ruled the kiddies division.
The tournament was held to commemorate the life of Harvey Duke Harris III, who was shot in the US in 2016. He is the nephew of Cebuano Grand Master (GM) Enrico Sevillano, who is organizing this event together with his brother Voltaire Sevillano.
