Green Lancers settle for third in PCCL 3×3 cagefest

THE UNIVERSITY of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers salvaged third place in the National Grand Finals of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League 3×3 after they walloped the Southern Philippines Colleges, 53-44, late Saturday afternoon at the at the Activity Center of Vista Mall Taguig.

Former Cesafi MVP Rey Suerte was a one-man wrecking crew for UV as he scored a whopping 35 points in the 15-minute game. Jerome Napao and Monic Soliva chipped in seven points apiece.

After suffering close losses to Arellano University and Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU), UV recovered and crushed Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, 49-23.

Sharpshooter Josue Segumpan shone for UV in that game with 20 points and five boards. Suerte notched 13.

The title was won by Arellano University after it beat OLFU in lopsided fashion, 42-24.

Michael Canete led the way for the Chiefs with 23 points while Kraniel Canete added 12.

Also part of the title-winning squad was Ivan Meca, a former standout of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation.
