Police still to catch female farm worker’s killer

By: Bjorn Abraham Tabanera February 04,2014 - 02:53 PM

SIX days after the gruesome crime occurred in a mountain barangay of Argao town, police have yet to catch the killer of a lady worker in a coconut farm. The 31-year old farm worker Amanda Embudo was headed towards her mother-in-law’s home past 11 a.m. when she was attacked from behind.

Embudo sustained wounds on her shoulder, arms and right hand and she was nearly decapitated by her assailant. When police arrived in the area at 1 p.m, the suspect identified as Roel Gomez was long gone.

The crime scene was about 26 kilometers from the police station. Emudo was rushed to the Isidro Kintanar Memorial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

It was earlier reported that Embudo was a witness to a robbery case involving Gomez who allegedly stole young coconuts for sale. “Si Amanda Embudo man ang tig-bantay (sa lube ug botong) (Amanda Embudo watched over the coconut trees),” PO3 Benjamin Gerozaga said.
