An elderly Australian was found dead at a grassy spot in Purok 4, Barangay Balugo in Valencia town, Negros Oriental at past 11 am Wednesday.

Chief Insp. Ronoel Fungo of the Valencia municipal police precinct identified the 61-year-old victim as Franz Kremser who lives in a subdivision in Barangay Combado in nearby Bacong town, Negros Oriental.

Fungo told Cebu Daily News in a phone interview that Kremser’s death was reported to them by a barangay official. The Australian was last seen riding on a motorcycle with a female companion as backrider.

Fungo said the assailants were waiting at the road side and managed to get Kremser to stop before shooting him down.

The female backrider and Kremser’s motorcycle were nowhere to be found which led police to suspect that she is in cahoots with the assailants.

Fungo said they are relaying information to Kremser’s family and friends in the area as part of their investigation.
