Basketball player dies in vehicle mishap in Dumanjug
A basketball player died after he fell off an Isuzu truck that collided with a multicab in Barangay Ylaya, Dumanjug, Cebu last Friday night April 27.
The police identified the 29-year-old victim as Felix Gotana, a native of La Libertad town in Negros Occidental who lived in Barangay San Roque, Talisay City.
Senior Insp. Gilfred Baroman, Dumanjug police chief, said Gotana played for a local league held in Barangay Tapon, Dumanjug town. He joined team mates in riding a truck headed to the town proper.
The truck driven by Joy Balimbing later hit the passenger side of a multicab driven by a woman identified as Carlita Tormis Nemel. Gotana landed on his head and he was immediately brought to the nearest hospital but he died while in route.
Balimbing is detained at the Dumanjug police precinct pending the decision of the victim’s relatives on the case.
