Cebu Province continues win streak in Mayor’s Cup
CEBU PROVINCE kept its streak alive in the Men’s Division of the Cebu City Mayor’s Cup Open Volleyball Tournament 2018 yesterday as it chalked up win number four at the University of San Carlos (USC) gym in Sanciangko Street, Cebu City.
Cebu Province’s latest victim was 8×8, which it defeated, 25-21, 25-22, 25-20, for its fourth win in as many games.
The win solidified Cebu Province’s hold of the top spot in Group B.
As of press time, running second to Cebu Province is the University of San Jose-Recoletos (3-1) followed by Cebu-Russia (1-2), 8×8 (1-1) and University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) (0-4).
Only the top two after the elimination round will advance to the crossover semifinal round.
Meanwhile, two teams won via default in other games yesterday.
The University of Cebu (UC) and Cebu-Russia were winners via forfeiture. UC (1-1) won over Techno (0-3) while Cebu-Russia was victorious over USPF.
In the Women’s Division, UC (1-2) defeated the visiting Makati Gospel Church-New Life Christian Academy (0-3), 24-26, 25-17, 25-18.
