The 44-year-old businessman, who fled after shooting dead his younger brother inside their family-owned shop, surrendered to the Cebu City Police Office on Friday.

Roy Vincent Gopuco Jr., 44, was accompanied by his lawyer, Joan Largo, when he gave himself up at 7 p.m. at the CCPO office in Cebu City, said Senior Supt. Joel Doria, CCPO chief, in a press conference on Friday.

Roy Vincent has been identified as the suspect in the shooting of his younger brother, Cris Gerard Gopuco, 40, inside the MRC Mercantile in Barangay Sambag II on Thursday afternoon.

When sought for comment, Roy Vincent Gopuco Jr. said his lawyer would be the one to give a statement about the incident, but Lawyer Largo also refused to issue a statement about it.

According to SPO1 Winston Ybañez of the CCPO’s Homicide Section, investigation showed that Roy Vincent arrived in his Honda Civic at their shop at the MRC Mercantile.

A witness told police that Roy Vincent confronted his brother, Cris Gerard inside their shop, MRC Mercantile. Cris Gerard was then busy at work inside the shop and a few minutes later, shots were fired. Roy Vincent was then seen to have rushed outside and fled on his Honda Civic.

Ybanez said that Cris Gerard was shot three times and was rushed to the hospital for treatment, but he did not reach the hospital alive.

Ybanez said that the autopsy results on Cris Gerard showed that he was shot three times — twice in the back and once in the head.

The CCPO’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit also recovered three empty shells and two bullets of a 9 mm pistol at the crime scene.

The wife of the victim later put up a P100,000 reward for anyone who could provide information about the suspect’s whereabouts.

CCPO Chief Doria said on Friday that nobody would get the reward money since the suspect surrendered.

Doria said that they were readying a murder complaint against the suspect, which they planned to file on Monday.
