Cebu will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated rain showers for the next three days.

Al Quiblat, Mactan station chief of the state weather bureau Pagasa, said the weather disturbance is caused by the southwest monsoon or habagat.

“Ang thunderstorm ang atong bantayan kay naay possible nga kalit-kalit nga bundak sa ulan,” he said as its wind speed has about 20 to 30 kilometers per hour (kph).

“We should monitor for thunderstorm advisory as this will bring a possible heavy rains,” Quiblat said, adding that wind speed had reached 20 to 30 kph and waves could go up to 2.5 meters high which is dangerous to small fishing vessels.

Those planning to watch the Manny Pacquiao and Lucas Matthysse fight outdoors this Sunday are told to monitor the weather. Those watching indoors were advised to switch off power during a thunderstorm.

A low-pressure area (LPA) is seen hovering outside the country and it has a 60 percent chance to develop into a tropical cyclone. Quiblat said the low-pressure area is expected to enter the country on a Saturday or Sunday.

But Quiblat said it won’t affect Cebu and has a low chance to make landfall in the country. The weather disturbance is last spotted at 1,500 kph east of Visayas, as of 2 p.m.Thursday.
