UC falters against NU in Davao tilt

THE UNIVERSITY of Cebu (UC) Webmasters got off to a poor start and fell to the National University (NU) Bulldogs, 77-86, during the opening day of action in the 33rd Kadayawan sa Dabaw Invitational Basketball Tournament on Thursday night at the Almendras Gym in Davao City.

The Webmasters could not find their rhythm and trailed for most of the game. They headed to the final canto behind by 17, 44-61.

Cameroonian forward Frederick Elombi led UC with a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds while Justine Dacalos added 15 markers, five assists and three boards. John Jabello also had a solid all-around outing with 12 points, four rebounds and four assists but Darrell Shane Menina was held to just six points.

Aside from NU, also playing in this tournament that dangles a whopping P100,000 for the champion squad, are the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers and the hometown Go-Duterte Eagles, which has former foreign reinforcements in Landry Sanjo and former Cesafi MVP Shooster Olago, formerly of Southwestern University and the University of San Carlos, respectively.
