SOME 17 teams will begin their campaign in the biggest annual Cebu Inter-BPO Volleyball Cup (CIBPOVC) which kicked off yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.
The eight-weekend long tournament officially started with a parade along Osmeña Boulevard at 4:30 p.m. The teams who participated in the parade were Hapaqueros,
Conduent, Lexmark, Accenture, OP360, NCR, Fluor, Teletech, Author Solutions, ePerformax, Qualfon, WiPro, Tech Mahindra, CTC BPO, Sykes, Convergys, and taking their place at the end as last year’s defending champions, the Teleperformance.
The opening program started at 6 p.m. with an invocation by the ePerformax Serenades.
Deputy Mayor for Sports, Cebu City Councilor Eugenio Gabuya, delivered the opening remarks while Finals MVP and CIBPOVC chairman, Geneva Devero, led the Oath of Sportsmanship.
Last year’s Women’s Finals MVP, Sheila Bongo, first held and lit the torch. She then passed it on to last year’s Women’s Season MVP, Elizabeth Emnase, and superseded by Jhuni Loway and Devero who were last year’s Men’s Season MVP and Men’s Finals MVP, respectively.
Highlighting the opening ceremonies were the Mr. and Ms. CIBPOVC 2018 and Groove! An Inter-BPO Street Dance Contest. The crowd was also entertained by an intermission dubbed as One BPO Zumba spearheaded by Anytime Fitness.
The opening ceremonies was concluded with Sykes’ Idol Gorpido and Crystal Diolan, sweeping the Mr. and Ms. CIBPOVC 2018 titles. The Syke’s dance crew also ended the night as the Groove! champions.
Qualfon was also awarded as the Most Participative Company.
Games will officially start today in barangay Guadalupe.
Meanwhile, the job fairs, also a sidelight of this event, will be finalized within the week and may begin next Saturday, according to Devero.
