Cebu Third District Rep. Gwen Garcia was replaced as deputy speaker of the House of Representatives on Wednesday (August 15).
She was replaced by Bohol Rep. Arthur Yap.
Garcia, however, was given the chairmanship of the House Committee on Economic Affairs.
The congresswoman told Cebu Daily News in a text message that having been appointed as a committee chairman is a new challenge.
On the other hand, Cebu Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale said Garcia’s removal as deputy speaker may have some effects on her bid to run for provincial governor in next year’s election.
Magpale is also looking forward to the implementation of Garcia’s dismissal order issued by the Ombudsman.
