EXPECT the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles to give their all when they begin their campaign in the Cesafi secondary football competition on Saturday at the Cebu City Sports Center.
Hoping to improve its runner-up finish last season, the Magis Eagles first goes up against the University of San Carlos-Basic Education in its first game of this season.
Ateneo de Cebu lost to perennial champions Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) last year.
Magis Eagles head coach Oliver Colina, who will be handling a secondary team for the first time, said his team is ready for battle despite being a young bunch.
“We will just try our best because a lot of my players are first timers in the competition. We will just take it one game at a time,” said Colina. “Our main goal is to win the Cesafi but we need to be in the top 4 first before we can get our main objective.”
Asked who he thinks will be his key players for this season, Colina said all in his roster are his key players.
“We need to work as one. We don’t need to have one guy or two guys. What we want is the 11 players and the substitutes to contribute to the team,” explained Colina.
According to Colina, the competition will be tight this season since all five other teams are strong opponents.
The last time that Ateneo held the Cesafi secondary title was in 2016.
