Gun owners will have to personally show up at the PNP national headquarters in Camp Crame to secure their license.
Chief Supt. Louie Oppus, chief of the PNP Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO), was in Cebu yesterday where he announced the  new implementing  rules and regulations under  Republic

Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Act,
“Adto ra gyud sa Camp Crame ka mag-secure”, said Oppus. (They really have to go to Camp Crame to secure their licenses.)

He said the processing of gun licenses and permits to carry firearms outside residence (PTCFOR) will now be processed separately.
Under the law’s Section 19, all types of licenses to possess a firearm shall be renewed every two years, while registration of the firearm shall be renewed every four years.

Failure to renew the license and registration on or before the date of its expiration shall cause the revocation of the two.
If a gun license is revoked, the firearm shall be confiscated or forfeited in favor of the government after due process.

Firearms will be classified into two types – small arms or firearms  fired from the hand or shoulder and are not capable of full automatic discharge, and other light weapons which will

classified as Class A and Class B.  Self-loading pistols, rifles and carbines, sub-machine guns, assault rifles and light machine guns not exceeding calibre 7.62mm falls under Class A while crew-served weapons are considered Class B. License requirements vary depending on gun type. /With Correspondent Chito O. Aragon
