AROUND a thousand Cebuano runners make their pitch for Mother Nature today in the fifth edition of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) “Run 2 Plant 4 Greenin Philippines” in Barangay Jaclupan, Talisay City.
Around 10,000 tree seedlings will be planted this year in the eight hectare land that served as RAFI’s nursery for its reforestation efforts in Cebu as well as in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
According to Rene Martel of RAFI, the 5-kilometer, non-competitive fun run has attracted around a thousand participants this year who pledged to help the tree planting activity which will be held right after the race.
The Department of Education (DepEd) will also deploy around a hundred personnel to join the activity.
The municipality of Lilo-an was the venue of last year’s running/tree planting activity which placed premium on the full survival and maintenance of the planted seedlings.
The race will start at 5 a.m. today.
