Cebu-based residents were advised to bring umbrellas and raincoats as rains are expected to occur in the province this week.
Weather specialist Nedz Saletrero of the state weather bureau Pagasa-Mactan office said cloudy skies and scattered rainshowers are forecast in Cebu due to the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).
The ITCZ is also affecting the whole Visayas, northern Mindanao, the Caraga region and Zamboanga peninsula, Saletrero said.
Light to moderate with occasional heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected in these areas, she said.
“Magdala lang gyud tag payong especially nga mokalit lang og bundak ang ulan sa hapon or gabii (We should bring our umbrellas as anytime it will rain especially in the afternoon and evening),” Saletrero said.
Winds and sea conditions remain light to moderate, with waves expected to reach up to 2.1 meters in height.
Those living in flood and landslide prone areas should watch out and evacuate if necessary, Saletrero said.
So far, she said there were no tropical cyclones projected for the three-day forecast.
Saletrero said the public should not be complacent and continually monitor the weather.
