Cebu still country’s wealthiest province

For the fourth straight year, Cebu maintained its position as the richest province in the country, according to the 2017 Annual Financial Report of the Commission on Audit (COA).

Cebu province generated a total earnings of P34.14 billion in 2017 or about P2 billion more than its 2016 income of P32.43-billion.

The province also topped COA’s list with revenues amounting to (how much) in 2016, P30.33 billion in 2015 and P28 billion in 2014.

Cebu’s assets is almost double in comparison with that of Compostela Valley which ranks second with a 2017 revenue of 18.95 billion.

Other provinces which made it to COA’s top 10 list include Batangas – P15.568 billion (3rd), Rizal -P14 billion (4th), Negros Occidental – P12.89 billion (5th), Zambales – P10.46 billion (6th), Bulacan – 10.45 billion (7th), Palawan – P10.16 billion (8th), Iloilo – P10 billion (9th), and Pampanga – 9.53 billion (10th).
