Hontiveros leads UC to first win in CBAA hoopfest

FORMER PBA great Dondon Hontiveros put on display his ageless form as he towed the University of Cebu (UC) Aguilas past the University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars (USJ-R), 69-57, in the 40-47 division of the CAAA Basketball Alumni Association (CBAA) Flashback Season 2 last Thursday night at the University of San Carlos gym.

Hontiveros arrived at halftime and immediately went to work, scoring all 25 of his points in the second half to give UC its first win.

In the 48-above division, the Cebu Central Colleges Mariners vanquished USJ-R, 79-70, as Julius Gastador, the father of erstwhile Cesafi slam dunk king Miguel Gastador, fired in 24 points.

The league is spearheaded by Innocentes Montalbo Jr. and is supported by Cokaliong Shipping Lines and Family Appliance Center.
