Things looking bleak for Cebu City Sharks

The Cebu City Sharks-Casino Ethyl Alcohol’s bid for a playoff spot suffered a huge blow as they got routed by the Rizal Crusaders, 57-80, in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup last Monday night at the Ynares Sports Arena.

The loss dropped Cebu City to 6-10 (win-loss) in a game that the Sharks needed to win to bolster their chances of getting into the next round.

Instead, the team was left to rue its effort as it surrendered a massive 22-0 run in the fourth that put the game out of reach.

According to the team’s guard Joel Lee Yu, who led the Sharks in scoring with 15 points, they got shellshocked at the physicality that the Crusaders displayed against them.

“They played physical which shocked us. At the very start of the game, they were already bodying us up,” shared the former University of San Carlos cager.

“And shots just weren’t falling. It just wasn’t our day or night,” the left-handed guard shared.

The Sharks struggled to find their mark especially in the second half, where they were outscored, 29-49.
