Cebu City, Philippines — Batch 1997 debuted in thrilling fashion as they escaped with a 54-47 victory over Dos Milenyos in the 2019 Don Bosco Cup basketball tournament last Sunday, March 31, 2019, at the Don Bosco Technical College gym.
Giovanni Canceko led the way for 1997 with 17 points but it was the two three-pointers of Richard Mercado late in the game that helped seal the victory for their squad.
In another game, 1991 eked past the InGORious Batches 80-93, 61-59, as Bonifacio Madrid Jr. paced the winning side with 16 points.
1999 also slipped past 1996, 57-55, as Haresh Vergara collected a double-double of 27 points and 12 rebounds.
The Bullvets 1994 were also winners over 2002, 51-49, behind the 13 points apiece of Rammel Guimbarda and Jon Joseph Genson. Wilbert Taborada also submitted 12 markers for 1994.
And finally, 1998 routed 2001, 60-44, as Vito Holasco scored 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. /bmjo
