CEBU CITY, Philippines — Expect lighter traffic during the Holy Week in Cebu City as people are expected to go home to their hometowns.

Francisco Ouano, Cebu City Traffic Office (CCTO) head, said this as they prepare for the various Church-related activities in the city during the Holy Week.

He said no major road closures would be expected during the Holy Week although some roads might be closed temporarily for some religious processions, most likely along roads near churches and chapels.

However, he said this would only last for a certain time and would not be expected to cause long traffic jams in the major thoroughfares in the city.

He, however,  warned the commuters that there might be less public utility vehicles (PUV) travelling during from Maundy Thursday to Good Friday, and they should plan their trips carefully.

“Let’s pray for a peaceful Holy Week, and let us avoid rushing so no accidents may happen yo us and our families,” said Ouano. Ouano also reminded the drivers to follow traffic rules, and avoid violations such as counterflowing and overspeeding despite lesser vehicles on the road. /dbs
