CEBU CITY, Philippines – A suspected drug pusher in Talisay City died after reportedly attempting to shoot it out with police officers on Tuesday evening, April 15, 2019.

The casualty was identified as Gilbert dela Peña Alesir, also known by his alias ‘Moros.’ He was 35 years old.

According to police reports, Alesir, a resident of Sitio Mananga 1 in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City, was tagged as a “high valued target.”

The reports also said police received complaints from concerned citizens, alleging Alesir’s illegal activities in the area.

Police said Alesir was the subject of a buy-bust operation. But the suspect tried to escape arresting officers by aiming his gun at one of them. The police said they shot Alesir before the suspect could fire his own gun.

Recovered from Alesir were a caliber .357 revolver, 10 pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, and two P100 bills used as buy-bust money. Operatives also recovered two pieces of fired bullets, and four fired cartridges./bmjo
