CEBU CITY, Philippines — A new fire hydrant is expected to make it easier for the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to respond to fire around and near Barangay Banawa in Cebu City.

According to a Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) advisory, the new hydrant was installed on Good Friday, April 19.

“MCWD, together with the Cebu City government, the barangays and BFP, is committed to continue addressing the water supply shortage this weekend,” said MCWD.

The fire hydrant will serve as the source of water for the BFP in the case of emergency in the area.

According to BFP Cebu City Fire Marshall, the chances of rubbish or grass fire increases during the hot dry season especially in open areas.
