Cebu City, Philippines—The testimony of self-confessed killer Renato Llenes is accurate, according to Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) Director Brigadier General Debold Sinas.

“We are convinced that Renato Llenes is the prime suspect of the murder of Christine Lee Silawan,” said Sinas.

Sinas said this on Thursday morning hours after the Philippine National Police (PNP) announced on Wednesday that the DNA samples taken from the scissors allegedly used in the murder of Christine Lee Silawan matched Llenes.

Llenes, 42, of Lapu-Lapu City previously confessed he used a pair of scissors to stab Silawan in  different parts of her body. He also said he used the same scissors to peel the skin off Silawan’s face.

“Positive sa presence sa DNA ni Christine ang gunting. Positive pud siya sa fluid DNA ni Renato Llenes,” Sinas said in a press conference.

(The pair of scissors was positive for the DNA of Christine. It was also positive for fluid DNA of Renato Llenes.)

Sinas added that Llenes went through a polygraph test and passed, which means he was telling the truth in his testimony.

Llenes also went through a psychology test, where it was found that he did not have any mental problems.

“This will prove that we are in the right path,” said Sinas.

Sinas reportedly has spoken with Lapu-Lapu City Police Chief Limuel Obon to deliver the evidence to the City Prosecutor’s Office.
