MANDAUE CITY, Philippines — The Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) will begin the deployment of their personnel in polling centers on Thursday, May 9, in time for the May 13 midterm elections.

Police Major Mercy Villaro, MCPO information officer, said they will conduct a showdown inspection among their personnel on May 9 before they will be deployed to their respective assignments in the city.

Villaro said there will be a showdown inspection of MCPO personnel alongside supporting agencies such as the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) and Barangay Public Safety Office (BPSO).

This is to make sure that all measures are in place prior to the elections.

Villaro said they wanted to conduct an early showdown inspection, four days prior to the election day, so that they will be able to identify opportunities for improvement in their security deployment.

“After the showdown inspection, we will go straight to the deployment of our personnel in strategic areas,” said Villaro.

At least two police personnel will be deployed in every polling center while four teams of emergency response units will be deployed in four strategic areas in the city on election day.

MCPO has 425 uniformed personnel, 90 of which will be sent off to the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) to serve as augmentation forces for the areas in the region that lack personnel for their election security.

The send-off ceremony for the augmentation personnel will be at the Cebu City Sports Center on Thursday morning, May 9. / celr
