CEBU CITY, Philippines — Two men were arrested after they were caught allegedly illegally selling gasoline in Barangay Poblacion, Sibonga, 45 km south of Cebu City on May 9.

Chrispher de Lima, 23, and Pablo Taneza, 55, were arrested at past 7 a.m. by a police team accompanied with a representative of the Department of Energy in Central Visayas (DOE-7), said Police Master Sergeant Inocentes Amistad, Sibonga Police Station’s duty desk officer, in a phone interview with CDN Digital on Thursday, May 9.

Amistad said that Lawyer Russ Mark Gamallo of the DOE sought police assistance to stop the illegal selling of gasoline operation in the area.

He said that 20 gallons and 250 bottles of gasoline with an estimated value of P35,000 were confiscated from the suspects.

Amistad said that one would need the approval of the DOE to sell gasoline, without it the business would be illegal.

De Lima and Taneza were detained at the Sibonga Police Station pending the filing of charges. /dbs
