CEBU CITY, Philippines — Filipinos are known for their creativity and practicality.

We think out of the box when we innovate things.

A proof of this trait is this unique ride seen outside a mall in Cebu and photographed by Frank Go.

Go, a 21-year-old writer, posted a photo of the vehicle on Facebook on Tuesday, August 27.

“My workmates and I find it cool because of its unique design. Since it is parked right outside the entrance where the malls’ stocks are delivered, I believe that it is designed to transport small cargos inside the mall,” says Go.

CDN Digital was able to contact Ma. Luz Imus Barbosa, one of the friends of the owner of the modified vehicle, which features two sets of engines, three wheels and a pair of handlebars.

Barbosa said the vehicle is owned by her friend, Reigel Gallarde, who designed the vehicle so he can go around town.

Gallarde, a 32-year-old computer programmer, is on wheelchair. He designed the ride for his convenience as he travels from his house in Barangay Tisa to his workplace located near Ayala Center Cebu.

Barbosa tells CDN Digital that Gallarde is a person with disability who is hardworking and self-reliant.

“He is kind. He works hard. Despite his disability, he never wants to be a burden to other people,” says Barbosa.

Go, the person who took a photo of the vehicle, says the vehicle has earned the “road chariot” moniker. / celr
