LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — A 37-year old man died on the spot after he was shot by an unidentified person a few minutes past 10 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, along P. Rodriguez Street in Barangay Gun-ob.

The victim was identified as Luoele Andrade, married and unemployed.

Police Master Sargeant Rudy Janagap of Hoops Dome Police Station said initial investigation showed that the victim was reported to the barangay hall for causing trouble in his residence.

It is not clear if a family member or a neighbor reported Andrade.

When Andrade calmed down, he went back to the barangay hall and requested the barangay tanod (village watchmen) to assist him in entering his residence because he was allegedly barred from entering his home.

The village watchmen obliged and accompanied Andrade in going back to his residence.

Andrade walked ahead of them.

The watchmen were walking toward Andrade’s home when they saw a lifeless body along the road. They were  surprised upon checking that the dead man was Andrade.

The barangay tanods immediately requested paramedics and police assistance in the crime scene and reported the incident to the victim’s father-in-law, Hermie Tumulak.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) recovered a spent shell of .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

Police were not able to get any testimony form a witness but Janagap said they will conduct further investigation with Andrade’s family members and his neighbours to determine the motive of the crime. / celr
