Around 50 homes were razed in a fire that hit barangay Bakilid, Mandaue City.

The alarm was first received by Mandaue City Fire Department at 9:00 p.m. in a congested residential area in Mandaue City.

The fire which started in Purok 2 and spread in Purok 3 was raised to Task Force Alpha. Fire fighters from Consolacion town and the Chinese Volunteer Frie Brigade came in to help put out the fire.

Fire fighters had a hard time penetrating the core of the fire because of narrow alleyways.

The houses in the neighborhood were mostly made up of a mix of light materials and concrete.

A 60-year old man Herbato Heyrosa was brought to a hospital by the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) after he collapsed during the fire.

It took the firefighters 45 minutes to control the fire according to Mandaue Fire marshal Joel Abarquez.
Victims are temporarily housed in barangay Bakilid gym.
