Samsam: My name in Napoles list meant to sabotage probe

Rep. Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas of Cebu’s 1st district said the inclusion of his name in the list of government officials involved in the pork barrel scam is an attempt to spoil the ongoing investigation.

“I can only surmise that whoever inserted my name in the list (of businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles) is out to sow extreme hysteria and confusion in an attempt to spoil the ongoing investigation into the pork barrel scam by dragging in blameless individuals like me,” Gullas said in a statement posted on his official Facebook account.

Gullas, a neophyte congressman, said he was “shocked” to find his name in the list of individuals implicated in the P10-billion pork barrel scam allegedly masterminded by businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles.

“From day one of my first term, my district never availed of any Priority Assistance Development Fund allotments – not a single centavo – simply because, as everybody knows, the Supreme Court had by then effectively blocked releases, and eventually scrapped the controversial fund,” he said.

The young congressman didn’t attend the Congress session and went back to Cebu to clear his name to his constituents who voted for him in the last election.
