PNG action begins

The Cebu City delegation will start its bid in medal-rich track and field event in the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC)-Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Philippine National Games 2014 today at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

Thirty-one athletes will be bannering the Bisdaks’ campaign, headed by Southwestern University’s (SWU) Dandy Maturan, a gold medalist in the men’s 5,000-kilometer walk during the 2014 Private Schools Athletics Association (Prisaa) National Games in Tagum City, Davao del Norte last month.

Joining him are University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters’ Jelena Dagatan, a campaigner in the 2014 Private Schools Athletics Association (Prisaa) National Games, Shantel Tanucan, John Ray Doquiatan, Dandy Judy, Prince Joey Lee, Nino Soria, Roy Villahermosa, Rizza Bausin, Eume Booc, Tricia Mae Lapasaran, Lynnette Ursua, Kirstie Kaye Vinco and Jee Ann Racoma.

Also in UC’s roster for Team Cebu City are Joseph Camingao, Marvin Rafols, Jrict Ray Talicug, Jhuvan Baculot, Doren Romeral and Elyzza Mae Salinas.

University of San Carlos’ (USC) Mary Joy Loberanis, Nina Marie Antiola, Adriana Emmanuell Rallos, Jason Naces and Jury Econg are also in the team.  University of Southern Philiines-Foundation’s (USP-F) Panthers’ 2014 Prisaa National Games men’s 5K walk silver medalist Darryl Manus and Clear Diongson together with Kierljie Emnace and Angel Mark Sicad of the Abellana National School will complete the team.

Also starting their bids in arnis today for Team Cebu City are Starlette Jade Pestano and Andro Rey Pencenaves of Cebu Normal University, Ariel Anbasto of Rodrigo Duterte Memorial national High School, UC’s Noelyn Cate Bargamento, Ainy Bastida, Jodel Gasatan and Zenneth Pacible and USC’s Eula Marie Villahermosa.

Boxers Junriel Jimenez, Marco Pumar, out-of-school youths Rodey Piala, Rio Tabogon and Jeorge Rey Edusma, Prisaa National Games medalists Ramjes Colina and Ian Refuela, Alan Refuela and Kit Ceron Garces will also start their quest for glory  at the RMSC basketball stadium.

Prisaa National Games 2014 gold medalists Sally Mae Siso, Hanna Espinosa, Marc Norman Enriquez and Israel Abarquez, for their part, will also begin their campaign in lawn tennis as well as the women’s volleyball team, represented by Shakey’s V-League (SVL) 11th Season campaigner SWU Lady Cobras. In the team are Janelle Cabahug, Therese Rae Ramas, Sheena Quiño, Necca Rose de la Llana, Jerra Mae Pacinio, Sheila Mae Bongo, team captain Neresa Villanueva, Dyan Darantinao, Marilyn Llagoso, Renee Collen Nath Gimeno and April Smith.
Cebuano woodpushers also begin their campaign at the Makati Coliseum alongside Cebu’s bets in cycling in Tagaytay City, rugby-football at Nomads and weightlifting and wrestling at the Marikina Riverbanks.

For team Lapu-Lapu, among those who will see action today are arnis’ Reymar Baldos, Antonio Sensal Jr., Kenneth Magbanua, Gerald Quinio, Verunica Apa, Jackielou Bulanon, Gemmarie Rosales, Julia Broce, Ma. Crystal Jane Sapio, Kyla Marie Pepito, Ella Marie Sapio and Ivie Camangyan, track and field’s Mark Vincent Matoy, Mark Lee Lucero, Joel Andrin, John Louie Elesio, Jhean Andrin, Lovely Fe Andrin, Karla Cosep and Kisha Mae Delecho and chess’ Allan Pason and Ariel Joseph Abellana.
